Body composition research in diabetes and obesity presented today at EASD 2024

New diabetes and obesity research is being presented today at the 60th European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) Annual Meeting by some of our collaborators. This year’s EASD Congress is taking place from 9-13 September in Madrid, Spain.

Results from a sub-study looking at changes in body composition using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) following treatment with a glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1)/glucagon dual receptor agonist will be presented in a short oral presentation. By quantitatively comparing changes in lean tissue, visceral adipose tissue (VAT), and subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT), the relative proportions of each type of tissue’s contribution to the overall weight loss could be assessed. This work was conducted as part of a collaboration between Altimmune, Pennington Biomedical Research Centre, and Antaros Medical.

Also being presented today as an oral presentation are some of the findings from the NAFLDiet Study. The NAFLDiet study is an interventional study investigating the effectiveness of different diets in reducing liver fat, glycaemic control, blood lipids, inflammation and weight loss. This study was led by researchers from Uppsala University in collaboration with Chalmers University of Technology, Lund University, and Antaros Medical.
