A novel integrated PET/MRI approach to evaluate metabolic dysregulation in T2D development

In a recent publication, Uppsala University Professor Håkan Ahlström and Associate Professor Joel Kullberg (both co-founders of Antaros Medical), together with colleagues, use an integrated whole-body PET/MRI approach to assess glucose metabolism and fat content of multiple tissues in different stages of type 2 diabetes (T2D) development. This type of integrated assessment is important for evaluation of metabolic dysregulation in the development of T2D. The presented multimodal imaging approach has potential to address disease stage, patient phenotypes and underlying pathophysiology and thereby may support precision medicine in diabetes and other metabolic diseases.

This study was a collaboration between Uppsala University, AstraZeneca and Sahlgrenska Academy.
